Tesla, Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, and Carnegie were some of important figures of there time.
Nikola Tesla. Tesla was a Serbian inventor that moved to the U.S. later in his life. When he was first studying in the Polytechnic Institute in Graz, Austria he first started to specialize in physics and mathematics, but later went into electrical engineering. He came up with the rotating magnetic field and built the first induction motor.
I chose Tesla to be part of this list because he advanced our understanding of electricity and made improvements to our electric power plants. |
Rockefeller. He started The Standard Oil Company and became one of the wealthiest men in the world. He started his oil company on 1863 and invested in the Cleveland, Ohio, refinery. His company funded scientists to figure out new uses for petroleum by products.
Rockefeller was and important figure that helped give people jobs. His monopoly also funded a lot of works in the U.S. |

steamship service that transported prospectors from New York to San Francisco. Then later went to the rail road industry and started to build the Continental Railroad. |
Carnegie. He started out he worked on the railroad and then went in to the steel industry by first making investing in oil. Carnegie built steel plants all over the U.S. and found a way to make steel easier then before.
